About Jessica Kirk, PhD, MBA, PMP

With more than 20 years of experience across engineering, management research, and higher education, I founded Aspen Gold Consulting to help organizations improve how work actually gets done. My career began as an engineer at Boeing, where I learned to think in systems and solve large-scale, high-pressure problems. That experience sparked a deeper question: how do people operate within these systems?

To explore that question, I earned an MBA from Washington University in St. Louis and a PhD in Management from the University of Colorado Boulder. I then spent over a decade teaching and conducting research in partnership with organizations, translating theory into practical insight about how work really functions.

Across academia and consulting, I’ve worked at the intersection of research and practice — redesigning proposal processes at the Space Telescope Science Institute, evaluating procedures at a global tech accelerator, and partnering with Fortune 100 companies. These experiences reinforced a core belief: lasting improvement happens when evidence, design, and human insight come together.

At Aspen Gold Consulting, I help organizations strengthen leadership, improve people-first processes, and translate research into action. My approach blends technical precision, research rigor, and an educator’s clarity to create solutions tailored to both your systems and your people.

The name Aspen Gold reflects my Colorado roots and the aspen grove itself — deeply connected beneath the surface, resilient through change, and stronger together. I returned to St. Louis to raise my family and build this practice in a region where my roots run deep, bringing research-grounded insight to work that matters close to home.

While Aspen Gold is a boutique practice, the work is never done in isolation. I am strengthened through collaborations with a trusted network of experienced consultants and specialists across complementary areas. This allows Aspen Gold to stay focused, flexible, and responsive, while bringing in additional expertise when it serves the work.
